Lily

I received this stamp in the mail last week. I had preordered it a couple of months ago. And of course I couldn't help myself and inked it up.

The images are stamped on watercolor paper and colored with my Stampin'Up inks and blenderpens. I then used my Crystal effects and Martha Stewart Glitter on the wings, the hair bands and the little mushrooms. The card stocks are all from Stampin'Up. The stamp is called Lily-the magic fairy (Stampavie/Rachelle Anne Miller). I love coloring in those images.
Which card do you like better? I also tried blonde hair on one but I haven't turned that one into a card yet.

This funny thing happened at work last Friday. I usually get a couple of rude customers who think I've got the job because I'm stupid (I assume from the way they talk to me) but on Friday this shy teenage girl asked me to come to her wedding the next day (yesterday). Apparently she noticed my name and said she knew someone with that name (Hulda) and she really wanted me to come to the wedding. Well, I had a 9 hour shift on Saturday so I couldn't go to the wedding. But all weekend I've been thinking about this poor girl getting married. She looked way too young. Well, she belongs to a community called the Twelve Tribes. I've also been invited to visit with them on Friday evenings, but I have to tell you I'm not much for communities like this one.
Well, at least it put a smile on my face ;)

well, I'm only scheduled for 2 days at work this week....we'll see if that'll change....but I think I might find some time to create and blog.

Make sure you check out my SU BLOG!

Christmas in August

I did manage to use Taylor's Cupcake sketch this weekend. I just bought an Inkadinkado stampset the other day, Peppermint Twist, and just had to give it a try.

It's a clear stamp set. Brand new. And of course I used the new In-Colors from Stampin'Up. I stamped the ornament three times (one time for each color) and then paper pieced it so it could look the way I wanted it to. It's pretty simple, I really wanted to play along but had to work an extra shift on Saturday so my time was limited. I did manage to make a few cards today though. I went to my Upline's workshop and had a blast :)
Well, it's after midnight and I have to get up early in the morning :o

Cuttlebug

I can't believe it's been a week since my last post already. I guess I've just been busy. I worked Thursday-Monday. After work on Sunday I went and got myself "nurse's" shoes. My feet and back were killing me after standing for 9 hours both Friday and Saturday. And I'm so glad I bought those shoes because I had no problems on Monday at work....at least no problems with my feet or back....but I did catch a couple shoplifting....yikes.....talk about an adrenalin kick!
Well, I'm trying to get back on my creative track after a week of getting used to going to work again.

I made this card the other day while making a tutorial in icelandic for a small club that I have. I was showing them how to use the folders on a part of the sheets.
It's a pretty simple card, I used one of my Nestabilities dies to cut the scalloped square. the ribbon is from Stampin'Up, the white cardstock is from Georgia Pacific.
And another one. I did a horrible job eyeing where the stars should be *lol* but the focus was on showing the dry embossing. I might try this one again and do it properly.
Tomorrow is my birthday and I'll spend the day at work.....but hopefully I'll find some time to stamp when I get home. I'm going to search for a good sketch (or good sketches) tonight and see if I can come up with something tomorrow. I would like to to Taylor's Cupcake challenge, I'll get to see her challenge when I get home from work I think.
Tonight I'm going to work on this weekends SU cards. I still haven't received my new catalog or the ones I ordered weeks ago. This month's Stampin' Success has not got here either....I'm not sure what's going on!
Untill next time....TTFN

Magnolia and sunflowers

I received my 4th and last Monday Mailer from Carol yesterday but I haven't taken a picture of it yet. I've got a busy work schedule this weekend because of Tax Free weekend here in NC. I'm working 6 hours today, 9 tomorrow and 9 on Saturday so I'll probably post the MM on Sunday on my SU blog.
I've got a few Magnolia images that I've been coloring and last weekend I made this card from one of them.

I used my Prismacolors to color in the image. Two brads for buttons.I stamped the Bashful blue background with En Francais and Fresh Cuts stamp set. I also used Fresh Cuts in the "window". My Nestabilities came in handy when I cut the circles (both scallop and regular).
This is how my sunflower looked last Sunday but I need to take a new picture of it because it's got more flowers now. The flowers are small compare to some sunflowers that I've seen but I chose this kind because I like the colors :)
Well, I'm off to get ready for work.

MM#3

Time to show you the 3rd Monday Mailer I received from Carol. It came in the mail yesterday. We're still using bold brights.

The stamp set is Sweet shapes from SU (retiring next month), those butterflies are absolutely adorable, don't you think? Thank you so much Carol!
I'll be getting the last card from Carol next week and I'm excited to see what she comes up with!

I received this card from Elaine (a.k.a. a_place_for_ink ) on Monday. I swapped a stamp set for card stock and ribbon with her.

I don't know where the stamp is from but the designer paper is from the Well Worn collection from The Paper Loft.
And here's one of my own:

All the paper is from SU but the image is from Whipper Snapper. Those colors are not my typical colors but I had the image already colored (Prismacolors) and needed something that matched it. I actually made four of these. I keep trying to use some of my images that I've got ready. But my box is always too full *lol* I always stamp extra images when I'm stamping.

Well, I have to say I'm going to be sad when VBS is over. I've managed to do quite a few cards while DS was at VBS....and tomorrow is the last day :( And next week I start working. But hopefully I'll still find time to stamp a little bit.

I'll try to post again this weekend!

Sarah Kay

I received this stamp in the mail the other day. I had finished this card about a week ago but thought it needed something so I didn't post a picture of it until now.
The card stock colors are basic black, mellow moss and ruby red. I used my SU inkpads and blenderpens to color in the image and markers for the ground. Very simple. I hope I get some more time to play with this stamp soon.
DS has been going to VBS this week, for the first time, and he's loving it. He's one of the youngest...if not the youngest of the kids there, but he seems to be doing good. The only thing I don't like about it is how late it is, from 6-9 pm. It takes him a good hour to wind down when he comes home. But the good thing is, we get 3 hours of silence at home *lol* the boy just can't stop talking, he talks all day and he even talks to himself when he goes to bed. So those 3 hours give us a little bit of a break and we can get things done without our little "shadow" (my nickname for him because I can not walk out of the room without him following me).
I just got my first real job here in the US!!! Had orientation today and will probably start working on Monday. It's only part time and the pay is only a few cents over the minimum wage but it's a start.
Anyway, I'll be posting again tomorrow (Wednesday) or Thursday, I'm expecting a card in the mail tomorrow :) and I got one in the mail yesterday that I really like.
I'm working on a few different projects, some I can't show right away and others you'll get too see next weekend on my SU BLOG.
I'm off to read a few of the blogs to the right! You should check them out too!!!

Monday Mailer

I received my Monday Mailer #2 from Carol today. She used the "Garden Whimsy" stampset from SU and I'm going to guess she made an inkpad out of babywipes. I'm not sure though. I haven't tried that technique yet myself but it's on my list of things to do :) I think these colors are perfect for summer and butterflies!

Thank you Carol!

Here's a card I made last week. I used the same colors as in last weekends SU post, Soft Sky, Blue Bayou and Certainly Celery. The bird stamp is from Inkadinkado and I got the backgroundstamp from a friend of mine.

Pretty simple. I stamped the bird on Whisper White and cut it out.
I'm so excited, Mr. Brown brought me a box today with new stampsets that will be available in SU's Fall/Winter catalog. I'll be making a few cards in the next couple of days and you should make sure to check in on my SU only blog to see what I'm talking about.
Yesterday I received a Sarah Kay stamp and hopefully I'll be able to post a card or two before the weekend here.

Other new are that I've been looking for a part time job and found one within a week. I was supposed to go for an orientation yesterday, but when I showed up the girl I was supposed to talk to had called in sick. Hopefully I'll still get to do it this week so I can start working ASAP. I'll only work 20 hours a week but I'm so ready to get out a little bit. I've been a stay at home mom for over 3 years now and that is so not my thing!

Anyway, I've gotta get back to stamping while I've got the house to myself :) DH and DS went to visit with cousins.
